First Piatigorsky Cup (Hardinge Simpole Chess Classics)

Having just defeated Botvinnik for the World Crown the new champion Tigran Petrosian travelled to Hollywood to compete in this glamorous top level competition organised and financed by millionaire cellist and chess devotee Gregor Piatigorsky.
